About

A small crew, a very old trade

We fit wood floors the slow way, because the slow way is the only one that still looks right in ten years.

Craftsman refinishing a hardwood floor with a sander

How Alex Floors started

Alex Prior spent fifteen years fitting floors for other people before starting his own in 2026, working out of a single garage on Red Row with one sander and a van that barely passed its MOT.

Word travelled the way it does in Stockport, one hallway at a time. The garage became a proper shop, where blocks are cut and dry laid before anything goes near a customer house. What has not changed is who turns up: the same faces, on time, every day of the job.

“Treat every floor like it is the one you will live on.”

What we stand on

Honest estimates

Itemised quotes with materials and labour separated. If a sand and recoat will do, we will say so rather than sell you a new floor.

Our own crew

We never subcontract. The people who quote your job are the people who kneel on the boards and hand you the keys back.

Real materials

Kiln dried timber from graded stock, low VOC oils and lacquers, and adhesives that will not let go in five years.

Standing behind it

A five year workmanship warranty in writing, and a phone that still gets answered long after the invoice is paid.

Come and see the shop

We are on Red Row, Mon to Sat, 7am to 6pm. Bring a photo of your floor and a cup of tea is on us.
